Parent Involvement

Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) Meetings

PTF meetings are generally held twice each year, once in the fall and once in the winter.  These are mandatory meetings.  An adult from each family (or their proxy) is required to be at each meeting, as pertinent school issues are discussed.

Parent Service Policy

Victory Christian Academy has a service policy whereby each family is asked to participate in their child’s education and actively show their support of the school.  Reasons for this policy are to:

  • keep tuition costs down

  • enable teachers to have a short break or prep time

  • observe your child and the process of learning at the school

  • prevent burn-out of workers

  • use the skills you have to help with your child’s education

Monthly hours are required as follows:

King’s Kids

service time is optional, but appreciated!

Early Fives and Kindergarten

3 hours per month per family

1st – 6th Grade

5 hours per month per family

Single Parent Home

3 hours per month per family

If you work additional hours one month, you are able to use the extra for another month in the same school year.  Each family will be responsible for tracking their own hours each month.  A notebook is located outside the office with a separate page for each family.  Please record the date, time, and activity each time you serve.  If your parent hours are served on an at-home project, you may contact us to request that we record your hours in the book for you.  Parents or their proxy (grandparent, aunt, etc.) are able to fulfill the required hours.  An hourly fee will be assessed and billed to you for any time not completed for the school year.

There are many opportunities that come up during the year that will require help.  Below is a list of ongoing areas of need.  If you have an idea, check with us and we will give you direction in that area.

  • Teaching a skill:  art, gym, library, music, computer, tutoring, shop, sewing, cooking, substitute teaching.

  • Working with children:  hot lunch server, lunchroom helper, gym supervisor, bus duty, field trip helper, instrumental accompanist, student council, drill math/spelling, speech coach, vision/hearing screening, musicals, provide childcare for another parent helper.

  • Working with adults:  school board member, coordinator of parent hours, phone calling, hospitality.

  • Committees:  admissions, fundraising, building & maintenance, education, long-range planning, PTF, finance, publicity/marketing, prayer team.

  • Coordinators:  Box Tops for Education, Bike-a-Thon, Campbell's Soup Labels, Give 'em Five (Kemps Promotion).

  • Work with equipment:  secretarial, make drill cards/games, library records, posters, bulletin boards.

  • Other:  research new equipment, research programs.

Parents are encouraged to be involved in school activities.  Their time and abilities are greatly appreciated.  Following God’s directives in Colossians 3:23, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men” (NIV).

Communication with Parents

At the end of each school week, a note is sent home communicating a variety of current issues to parents.  These Notes Home will inform parents of service opportunities, fund-raising information, upcoming non-school days, etc.  Parents may elect to receive the Notes Home via email; they are also available on our website.
